KIND - “Power Grab“ (Music Video) | Ripple Music - 2023

KIND, the stoner/psych/doom supergroup from Boston featuring Matt Couto (ex-Elder), Tom Corino (ex-Rozamov), Craig Riggs (Roadsaw) and Darryl Shepard (ex-Black Pyramid), are set to release their third full-length through Ripple Music later this Summer. First, though, enjoy the second single - “Power Grab“ Once again, KIND recorded with engineer Alec Rodriguez at Mad Oak Studios, and the eye-catching cover art was created by renowned artist Alexander Von Wieding in his lair in Germany. Close Encounters contains nine songs of heavy stoner/doom/psych rock with some additional elements, furthering the scope of KIND’s musical vision. Prog-rock leaning opener “Burn Scar”, the almost-but-not-quite pop of “Snag” and the Krautrock inspired closer “Pacino” bring some variety to the proceedings, with additional percussion, Mellotron and synth blended into the mix. About the song, Guitarist Darryl Shepard said: “’Power Grab’ is our shortest song, clocking in at just under three minutes. It’s kind of our “punk rock” song. It was also the most difficult to record for some reason, it took us five takes to nail it whereas most songs take one or two takes. For me personally it has one of my favorite guitar solos that I’ve played on it, it’s pretty out of control. Craig sums up the lyrics very succinctly: “The things people will do to end up on top”. The video was created by Shane McConnell of The Dregs Liquid Light Show, who do live liquid light shows at clubs around the Boston area.“ “Close Encounters“ is due out August 11, 2023, and will be available on Vinyl/CD/Digital.
