Facebook: You can follow on twitter: ABOUT THIS VIDEO: A deep visual, aural exploration of Polish surrealist Beksiński’s inner landscapes. Zdzisław Beksiński (1929-2005) completed the Faculty of Architecture of the Kraków Polytechnic. After working in construction, he started to work in his hometown, Sanok, as a bus designer for an automotive factory before giving up this work to pursue artistic ambitions. During his long career, Zdzisław Beksiński worked in many fields of art: sculpture, photography, graphic art, drawing, and painting. It was in painting that he found his ideal medium. Beksiński’s paintings were all untitled – he wanted to avoid any metaphorical interpretation of his work. With no formal training as an artist, his paintings were mainly created using oil paint on hardboard panels which he personally prepared, although he also experimented with acrylic paints. Abhorring silence, he always listened to (mainly classical) music while working. From the mid-1960s onwards, his works gained popularity in Poland. In the 1980s and 1990s, Beksiński’s paintings were exhibited abroad, including France and Japan, and he became an internationally recognized artist. While his work went through many styles and themes it is often compared to that of Swiss surrealist Hans Giger, the designer of the xenomorph for the famous 1979 film Alien. This video, like my previous H.R. Giger one, is an experiment in the longer form. I try to show a carefully selected, broader sampling of the artist’s works while giving an insight into his world and his art. The video is intended to be a Full HD visual and aural experience. A visual poem for the viewer to totally immerse themselves in with it’s recurring, morphing themes, motifs and sounds. Your comments and feedback are appreciated.
