World War 2 Soviet Army Color Footage No.3, Moscow to Stalingrad 1941 -1943

The Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army, frequently shortened to Red Army was the army and the air force of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and, after 1922, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The army was established immediately after the 1917 October Revolution. The Bolsheviks raised an army to oppose the military confederations of their adversaries during the Russian Civil War. When Germany invaded the Soviet Union in June 1941, in Operation Barbarossa, the Red Army’s ground forces had 303 divisions and 22 separate brigades including 166 divisions and brigades garrisoned in the western military districts. #WorldWar2 #WWII #SovietArmy
