I wanted to explore some Dark Fantasy territory here, and being a classic PC gamer, I always wanted to try my hand at writing a fast, thrashy, scorching and exciting Metal track about some of my all-time favourite first-person shooter games; namely the HERETIC & HEXEN series. Molded firmly in the vein of old Iced Earth, Testament and Symphony X, the song takes you through many different sections and along loads of unexpected twists and turns – just like playing one of these old shooter classics ;-) “Interesting to note is that this “single-version” of the song has a pretty extensively edited structure when compared to the version that’s on the album (the latter being more than FOUR MINUTES (!) longer and clocking in at more than nine minutes in total)! What’s there to discover in the “full” and un-edited version?
