Perfect Storm: IndyCar’s Las Vegas Nightmare

Investigators called it a “perfect storm“ of factors coming together to create one of the worst tragedies auto racing had seen. IndyCar’s Las Vegas finale in 2011 was a major success until the race began. It was to be the final moment for a troubled 15-year period for IndyCar and the beginning of a bright new future. New hope from a fresh CEO and a $5 million dollar challenge built the race into a must-see spectacle. But drivers were concerned about the safety of their cars on the fast Las Vegas Motor Speedway. An unimaginable turn of events took the life of Indy 500 champion Dan Wheldon, and derailed the series future. Narrated by Brock Beard.
