William Pitt, whose real name is William Frederick Pate or Will Pate is a British a singer-songwriter who lived in Paris during the 1980s. He got discovered by music producer Pascal Wüthrich who offered him a record deal. Pitt’s debut single ’City Lights’ became a hit in France in 1987. Following, the song became a hit in many European countries, including Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands where the song reached #15 in the Dutch Top 40 on 26 september 1987. It reached #16 in Austria, #14 in Belgium, #15 in Germany and #13 in Switzerland. ’City Lights’ contains the bassline from another song: ’Don’t Look Any Further’, by Dennis Edwards and Siedah Garrett.
