Adam - And Eve’s Frocks (1923)

A “Hallé“ creation inspired by the Middle Ages is modelled. A chinchilla collared cloak is then presented to the camera. There is a C/U of the sequinned pattern on a dress. Another cloak has a collar made from Thibet fur, which, an intertitle informs us is: “a very distant and aristocratic relative of - hush! - goat“. The two models and their male companions sit together in a room beyond two curtains. They all chat with each other. A white chiffon velvet “Cameo“ frock is modelled. It is so called because the skirt of the dress features appliquéd cameos (pretty hideous!). A gentleman give the lady her cape and she wraps herself up in it as they walk out together. Nice for illustrating the rather “over the top“ extreme end of early 1920s fashion. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
