Garry Says - Unusual Instruments, Part 3 - Log Drums

Watch founder and owner of Woodstock Chimes () and professional percussionist Garry Kvistad demonstrate unusual instruments. Today Garry is playing some of the log drums in his collection. Log drums are wooden boxes with carved tongues. Other names for Log Drums are Slit Drums or Teponaztli. Even though they have “drum“ in their name, technically, they are not drums. Rather they are Idiophones, musical instruments that create sound by the instrument as a whole vibrating. This type of musical instrument are universally used in ethnic music as well as in contemporary Western music.
