DC Designs SU-27 Flanker “Cobra“ Basic Test

This is the SU-27 Flanker performing the so-called “Cobra“ manoeuvre, which really is just referred to as a “Dynamic Deceleration“. The real SU-27 performs this manoeuvre with the G-Limiter, AoA limiter and Fly-By-Wire switched off, which is how it is portrayed here. Entry speed is 220 knots. Stick is pulled full back, held for a moment, then gradually released to allow the aircraft to nose over again based on aerodyamic drag and Centre of Gravity. In the real SU-27 the stick is centred to perform this leveling off, but this is pretty close to the real thing. Still being refined though. The manoeuvre is really little more than a party trick for the aircraft, but important for us to include as many have seen it do this at airshows around the world.
