GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Lightning () | Battle of the Back-to-Back Champs

After emerging victorious against the Arizona Coyotes in the first game of the season, the Penguins were hoping to continue the momentum against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The first goal of the game didn’t go Pittsburgh’s way, with Tampa’s Steven Stamkos registering his fourth goal of the season on the man-advantage. However, before the opening period was through, Jake Guentzel and Sidney Crosby combined to even the score at 1-1. Guentzel had a beautiful dish to the captain, who made a nice move in tight to make it count. In the 2nd period, Danton Heinen would get on the board with a power-play tally of his own, giving the Penguins their first lead of the night. Then, things really opened up in the final period. Jake Guentzel deflected a puck in front of the blue paint to make it 3-1 just under two-and-a-half minutes into the period.
