Rendered in Naturalist style, his Victorian landscapes often feature a central Thames River framed by meadows, mountains, and sparse foliage. Although Percy frequently included rural figures and animals in his compositions, his focus was on capturing the beauty and atmospheric presence of the empty countryside. He traveled extensively throughout the United Kingdom, drawing inspiration from locations in Wales, Yorkshire, and the Scottish Highlands, among others. Born in London, England on March 22, 1822, he was notably a member of the Barnes School family of artists, which included , George Augustus Williams, and Henry John Boddington
