Vivaldi dedicated two sets of concertos to him in 1727 and 1728. That year he met the Emperor in Trieste. It has been hypthesized that he left Venice for Vienna in 1740 to seek his favours. Charles VI died in October of that year, apparently from mushroom poisoning.
