Meeting the resident pack of socialised wolves at Wolf Lodge Norway was an experience I will never forget. There are so few apex predators in Europe now due to conflict with humans, that most people will never see them in the wild. It’s easy then to embellish tales of ‘savage beasts’ without knowing their true nature. Wild wolves are very shy animals and attacks on humans are extremely uncommon. Being able to witness these wonderful creatures up close, and to see how their anatomy is perfectly designed to thrive in the Arctic circle, has made me respect and admire them more than ever. Wolves in Norway are critically endangered but maybe if more people experience how fascinating they are, they’ll be more inclined to conserve them.....
