Shoot to warn or shoot to kill? Non-lethal weapons training

High-tech and low-tech non-lethal weapons give troops options to warn or stop civilians who may or may not pose threats at vehicle checkpoints and perimeter security areas. Troops from five nations (Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States) tested non-lethal weapons in scenarios mimicking real-world perimeter security and vehicle checkpoint situations. This exercise, called “NNTEX 16 L” for “NATO Non-Lethal Technological Exercise Land, 2016” took place during September
