King And Queen Of Spain (1927)

Item title reads: “ King & Queen Of Spain & General Primo de Rivera, review Spain’s victorious Troops of the Riff Campaign.“ . Centa, Morocco M/S mounted soldiers in Arab style uniform, with cloaks, and turbans, trot past camera. Others walk. The King and Queen, sitting on a balcony view the march past of soldiers and tribesmen. C/U’s as General explains the parade to the Queen. The General, in a plumed hat, pins medals on soldiers. The troops give three cheers. Tribal chiefs in robes are made to bow down in front of the King and Queen. They kiss the ground and are pushed roughly away by other tribesmen. Some wear white robes others wear rough simple hooded clothes. There are drummers. Intertitle reads: “Chiefs of the defeated tribes prostrate themselves in the dust as a token of submission“ Note: the tribesmen endure the humiliation of kissing the ground, but some of these shots look quite funny as you can’t see their faces, as they hang their heads low.
