Mali: Three Missions for the Bundeswehr

The Bundeswehr has been active in Mali since 2013. There are two military missions: 235 German soldiers are part of the EUTM Mali training mission in the quieter south of the country and Germany also provides soldiers for the UN MINUSMA Peacekeeping Force. Currently, there are ten German soldiers at the headquarters in Bamako but up to 650 men and women could be joining them soon. If parliament approves, they will be deployed in the more dangerous north. The third – civilian – mission is called EUCAP Sahel
