CONGER FISHING GUIDE - LIAM DALE (BBC’s The Big Catch)

This video formed the backbone of the Conger Fishing episode in my series The Big Catch for the BBC. Out to see with Bill Warner on Vagabond with mate Roger Herity - plenty of stuff was easy; EXCEPT where we had to head out in MARCH and try and catch a decent sized one to wrap up the TV prog. The BBC in their usual angling wisdom said.. “Here’s the expenses ducky.. go find that long fish thing“. And luckily I did. It was a touch and go with THAT particular 50 though. I felt the bite. I struck.. I missed! Bill cussed me out quietly.. these were not opportunities to miss. So.. I very very gently, lowered the bait again to hopefully as close as possible to the bite spot, loosed the clutch.. and waited. The nibble came.. she got confident and so did I. And THAT is how we do that.. with cameras etc on us. No pressure!
