Israel-Hamas ceasefire extended for two days, Guterres calls for longer window for Gaza aid

Crowds gathered in Ramallah to celebrate the release of 33 prisoners from an Israeli prison. Meanwhile, two helicopters carrying hostages released by Hamas arrived at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center early on Tuesday. With the four-day truce expiring on Tuesday, Israel and Hamas have agreed to extend the pause by two days, said a Qatari foreign ministry spokesperson on Monday. Under the initial four-day deal, Hamas will release 50 Israeli hostages in exchange for some 150 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. Israel said that the release of every additional 10 hostages would result in one additional day in the pause. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described an extended truce “a glimpse of hope and humanity,“ but warned it was not enough time to meet the aid needs of the Gaza Strip. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
