Visit Visit our website This rare, silent NASA footage from the Apollo Program captures a private event, apparently put on for NASA employees, astronauts and the Grumman team, to examine the Lunar Module. It also appears to show an ingress / egress test with an astronaut in a spacesuit mock-up. The venue is likely Huntsville, Alabama’s Marshall Space Flight Center. The footage probably dates to the run-up to the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. The film starts with ​footage of astronauts Jack Schmidt and Gene Cernan deploying an S-band antenna, and then shows an unpainted Lunar Module (possibly a mock-up) in a large hangar. At 6:40 a man in a mock-up spacesuit climbs the ladder of the LM and then at 9:10 descends. His activities are monitored by a team of men who speak to him via radio.
