Victims of the infected blood scandal must have justice, according to the paymaster general as he suggests criminal proceedings are possible. The Infected Blood Inquiry is to release the results of its five-year investigation into the mistakes that led to thousands being infected with chronic and fatal viruses, and efforts to cover up the truth. Contaminated blood products and transfusions have caused at least 2,900 deaths since the 1970s and 80s. Asked how likely it is that criminal proceedings could be brought, John Glen told LBC: “If there’s clear evidence and there is a pathway to that, then it’s obviously something the Government will have to address.
