For this demonstration I chose to draw one of the most popular spring flowers, the daffodil. I first lightly sketch out a circle followed by a smaller circle inside the top left half of the larger circle. Then I outline the petals and general shape of the daffodil within these guidelines. Once I’m happy with the general layout I begin to apply shading with the outside of the pencil. I block in darkest tones, mid tones and lightest tones but I gradually build up the mid and dark tones throughout the drawing process. I finish off by adding a stem and I outline the flower with a slightly wider and darker line.
