Tractors block motorways across France as farmers’ protest intensifies

Farmers used tractors to block dozens of highways across southern France today as the government struggled to defuse a swelling revolt over costs and regulations that is turning into a fresh national crisis for President Macron. A week-long blockade of a southwestern motorway has expanded into obstruction by protesting farmers across 85 of the country’s 96 departments a day after a farmer and her daughter were killed by a car at a roadblock near Toulouse.
