Horse Fire Engine 1908 (1906)

Late 1800s or early 1900s footage of a horse drawn fire engine emerging from a yard and approaching the camera. Several other horse drawn fire engines follow it. A crowd of people stand by and watch. L/S of horse galloping towards the camera with a cart behind it, the cart has an extendible fireman’s ladder on the back. Crowds line the street and watch. Another horse drawn fire engine follows. Young boys run after it. M/S of fireman on top of a ladder rescuing a man from a burning building. This is an exercise or possibly section from a narrative film (looks very much like Williamson’s “Fire“ to me...) Rescued man looks distressed and firemen comfort him. He throws up his arms to the window. Clothes are thrown from the window. A brave fireman opens the French doors of the house - smoke emerges. Fireman emerges carrying a child. Rescued man is overjoyed. He kisses the child and approaches the camera. Note: leader states UN41H - to be checked. May be a misfile or dupl
