I think the song fits Renji’s feelings when he had to face Ichigo. The blame that he didn’t even try to help Rukia and accepted her execution. While facing Ichigo, a stranger at that point that was willing to do what he wasn’t, he started to feel even more guilty and that’s where his character development starts. Bleach is really deep, and it’s themes are awesome if patiently explored.
