Building and Riding a Valveless Pulsejet-Powered Bike
I take no responsibility for you recreating any of the madness herein!
This bike was built and tested in one week in the summer of 2018. Two years later, and I’ve finally got round to editing it into something vaguely watchable.
Didn’t manage to get the diesel system working properly, might revisit that one day, the small bottle of propane only managed about 15 minutes of runtime - it’s a thirsty beast. Ideally would take it to an airfield or similar to really see what it was capable of, particularly if I added thrust augmenters to improve low-speed performance.
I built the Lockwood-Hiller style valveless pulsejet engine from scratch purely from sheet steel (including the U-shaped exhaust bend) in the previous autumn (2017) for a sixth form project, if anyone is interested, I can stick the video of building that up too.
Always more projects in the pipeline so watch this space!
