Russia Downs 12 Missiles, Poland Asks Allies to Arm Ukraine For Strikes On “Command Centres“

Ukraine’s armed forces have reported an advance in occupied areas of the Zaporizhzhia region. The commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said intense fighting is underway in Bakhmut, Kupyan. Russia said Ukraine launched 12 missiles and several drones on the southern region of Belgorod on January 3. Turkey said it will not allow the UK’s minehunter ships to transit its waters en route to the Black Sea. The president of the European Council has reiterated the EU’s support for Ukraine, calling Russia’s recent air attacks “cynical”.
