The TRUTH About the Character Arc

The Character is one of the most important - and also underdeveloped and frequently misunderstood concepts in movie storycraft. The Character Arc is often treated as some sidetrack to the plot, overlooking how tightly intertwined the structures of plot and character are in what we call a movie’s “story.“ Meanwhile, the currently popular method of approach, built around the concept of the Fatal Flaw has a lot of its own problems, as it oversimplifies character and often turns overly moralistic.
