Why Lord Shiva Defeated Lord Narasimha?

One of the least known stories about Lord Shiva is his fight with Narasimha, the avatar of Lord Vishnu in the form of Sharabha. Shiv Puran says he defeated Narasimha! Vishnu Puran says that Vishnu took another form of Gandaberunda to fight Sharabha.
