Honour, Courage, Service? Is Ottawa Police Chief, Peter Sloly, living these values?
Ottawa Police Chief, Peter Sloly tells the media that the protests in Ottawa are dangerous and alludes to the protesters being extremists with unacceptable views, sounding very much like Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. It seems that his words played a role in Go Fund Me cancelling the fundraiser to support the trucker freedom convoy.
According to the Ottawa Police Services (OPS) handbook on police ethics, all officers are expected:
“To uphold the Ottawa Police Service’s core ethical value of honour, you must act
honourably. To be honourable means that you are worthy of trust and respect;
you are not deceptive and, notably, you adhere to ethical and moral principles.
These are qualities the Ottawa Police Service requires of all of its members. More
specifically, this means that OPS members adhere to the laws and societal norms
they uphold, while conducting their duties in a manner that earns the trust and
