Britain Pays! (1933)

Full title reads: “New York. Britain pays! Gold - worth 25 million dollars - from half a dozen liners - landed - and goes straight into the Federal Reserve Bank!“ New York, United States of America (USA). Men walk down short gang plank from side of large liner ship. They are carrying small canvas bags presumably weighed down with bars of Gold. The men walk up and down the plank in teams off loading the valuable cargo. Shots of men carrying boxes off ship - each box, so the voiceover tells us, is worth £12,000. Shots of the boxes being loaded into a secured van. Men from the Federal Reserve count the boxes on. Shot of pile of boxes in van. CU of box in mans hands ’New York’ is written on the side. N.B. Presumably this bullion is being transferred from Britain to America to repay war debts - sadly we don’t get to see any gleaming gold bars. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
