King Charles meets cancer patients in first public appearance since diagnosis

The King insisted that he is “all right, thank you” when asked how he was getting on with his cancer treatment. The King and Queen were chatting to patients during a visit to the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre in central London. The monarch, who was named as the new patron of Cancer Cancer Research UK on Tuesday, hopes to put the disease front and centre of his work as he returns to public engagements. The royal couple arrived at the centre in the state Bentley just after 11am. Both smiled broadly and waved to onlookers before greeting staff including Baroness Neuberger, chairman of University London College Hospitals (UCLH), and David Probert, its chief executive.
