It is the perfect place to stay to explore the Great Otway National Park, which has spectacular waterfalls, a historic lighthouse and stunning rainforests. The town centre has a good selection of restaurants, cafes and speciality shops overlooking the grassy foreshore and beach. The grassy foreshore also has a playground, skate park and lots of space to run around. Attractions near Apollo Bay Cape Otway Lighthouse Built-in 1848, The Cape Otway Lightstation is the oldest surviving lighthouse in mainland Australia. It is also known as the ’Beacon of Hope’’ and sits atop the towering sea cliffs 90 metres above the Bass Straight. Hopetoun Falls Hopetoun Falls in The Great Otway National Park is a lovely 30-metre waterfall in a beautiful fern-filled gully along the Aire River. You can see the top of the falls at the lookout a few metres from the carpark. Maits Rest Rainforest Maits Rest Rainforest is an ancient cool-climate rainforest with towering Myrtle Beech trees, stunning tree ferns and a moss-covered forest floor. It is home to a variety of wildlife and more than 4o species of birds. Beauchamp Falls Beauchamp Falls in The Great Otway National Park is a lovely 25-metre waterfall in a beautiful fern-filled gully along Dappeler Creek. You can see the top of the falls from the lookout and go to the base. Otway Fly The Otway Fly Treetop Adventures is located in the Otway Ranges. The Treetop Walk is a two-kilometre walk through the rainforest and along the steel walkway under the treetop canopy, and it takes about an hour. Triplet Falls Wander through the stunning ancient rainforest on a one-hour circuit walk to a viewing platform, which provides spectacular views of the three cascades of Triplet Falls. There are some exciting relics on the track. Melba Gully Madsen’s Track at Melba Gully is a circuit walk through a stunning cool climate rainforest with towering trees and fabulous tree ferns; the walk’s highlight is Anne’s Cascades. The Redwoods The Redwoods in The Great Otway National Park are stunning 60-metre-high trees in a beautiful fern-filled gully along the Aire River.
