GAME RECAP: Penguins at Hurricanes () | Letang Gets 700th NHL Point

In the first of two games for Pittsburgh this weekend, the Penguins faced off against the Carolina Hurricanes. Looking to bounce back, the Penguins got to work tilting the ice in their favor early. Halfway through the 1st, Jake Guentzel passed the puck across the zone to Sidney Crosby waiting on the back post. Crosby gathered the puck in his feet and shot the puck in to take the lead, 1-0. Carolina took the lead back in the 2nd with two goals. In the 3rd period, Erik Karlsson split the Carolina defense with a burst of speed and almost had a clean breakaway. Chaos in front of the net, Kris Letang at the point, took a slap shot that bounced off a few players and eventually bounced off Crosby’s chest. Crosby, once again on the back post, used his backhand to get the tying goal. The Hurricanes had a quick answer to the Penguins goal, taking the lead right back.
