California Blue - a guitar instrumental by Alan Young

This is the beautiful Roy Orbison song from his Traveling Wilburys days. Another fabulous voice taken far too soon. Geeks, Nerds and Anoraks corner. Played (obviously) on my Burns Anniversary Marvin, neck pickup. I looked for a really spacious echo on the Hall and Collins Signature Echo, and there are none so spacious as the Wonderful Land patch, . I increased the echo feedback to max and even then I added as much hall reverb as it would take on my Tascam DP24. I also used the Vox ToneLab ST on the Vox AC15 amp model, gain at about 2, treble at 1, middle at maximum and bass at halfway. There eventually proved to be too much bass on mastering so I reduced the bass frequencies on the Tascam recorder. I then realised that I had come across this before when using the neck pickup on the Marvin, but I have yet to experience that on the Stratocaster. My Marvin is currently fitted with 12 gauge Elixirs so the very infrequent semi-tone bends on the 2nd fret really took some doing!!!
