PM Modi’s reference to Manmohan Singh’s remarks on Muslims sparks row; What did Ex-PM exactly say?

Political rumble began soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speech in Rajasthan’s Banswara. Opposition launched a sharp attack on PM Modi for his “redistribution of wealth” remarks targeting Congress. PM Modi claimed that ex-PM Manmohan Singh had said that Muslims have first right on country’s resources. PM Modi was referring to ex-PM Manmohan Singh’s Dec 19, 2006 speech at the Meeting of National Development Council. According to PMO Archives, this is what Manmohan Singh had said. “I believe our collective priorities are clear. Agriculture, irrigation and water resources, health, education, critical investment in rural infrastructure, and the essential public investment needs of general infrastructure, along with programmes for the upliftment of SC/STs, other backward classes, minorities and women and children.
