Live northern lights camera at Lyngen North in Northern Norway

Live northern lights camera located at the glass igloo hotel Lyngen North in Northern Norway. How to read the data on screen Aurora AI pred. The data on screen is from a home made computer vision model based on over images of the nightsky. The percentage is how certain the computer is that it has detected northern lights. It is used locally at Lyngen North to alert guests by SMS and dim down and make the outside light turn green. It is only images from the the Allsky camera (bottom left) that is beeing used to make predictions. This means it can also detect aurora outside the frame of the main camera. Direction The compass direction in which the main camera is pointed. Sun alt. The relative altitude of the sun at Lyngen North Moon bri. The moon brightness leve. 100% = full moon DSCOVR read time The time at which the data from the DSCOVR (Deep Space Climate Observatory) satelite was fetched. The DSCOVR satelite is in orbit at aproximately million km away. It will take aproximately 15 - 60 minutes before the solar wind data read from the satelite can be experienced on earth. Solar wind speed The solar wind travels at between 250 - 750km/s. It will have an effect on how the aurora will be experienced. The faster the solar wind is, the more intense the dancing of the aurora will be. Solar wind density The solar wind density is meassured in particles per cubic centimeter. Typically in the range 1-10. The higher the value the better the aurora experience will be. Bz The Bz value measures the direction of the solar wind’s magnetic field when it reaches Earth in the z direction. This value is very important as you will normally need this value to be close to zero or negative to get a great display of aurora in the northern hemisphere.
