This is a story about a small Belorussian town, placed among the marshes of Polesie, on the border of Poland and Ukraine, where the lifestyle has changed little over the centuries. While other people on their farm beds are planting herbs and vegetables, at this place people traditionally grow flowers for seed. And that is for they are known. And they are also known for their strong Christian foundations. The film is based on the short stories by well-known Belarusian writer George Marchuk, who was born in David-town. Alexandra Shpartova selected some chapters of his literary work and interpreted them by the means of documentary. The film has four parts: “The Canon of the Garden,“ “The Canon of God,“ “The Canon of Horyng-river’’ and The “Canon of the Mother“. The film tells about the peculiarities of local life and about the common human values at the same time. Building on the domestic and everyday things, it goes on a lyrical level, and on the level of philosophical reflection. Running Time: 36 min. 41 sec. Если в других местах огороды засажены зеленью и овощами, то давид-городчуки традиционно выращивают цветы на семена. Этим и знамениты, равно как и своими крепкими Христианскими устоями. В основу фильма «Давид-городокские каноны» легли четыре из десяти глав одноименного произведения Георгия Марчука: «Канон огороду», «Канон Богу», «Канон Горыни» и «Канон Матери». Фильм рассказывает и о чисто местечковом, характерном, и в то же время об общечеловеческом.
