After the era of the Bill Evans trio, from the time of the album Changes in 1983 until 2015, the standards trio became one of the most celebrated trios in the history of jazz. To date, more than twenty live and studio recordings bear witness to the path they’ve forged together. If you had to define what beauty means in music, you would respond with saying that Keith Jarret is an incarnation of it and that The Köln Concert is his greatest expression of it, or in any case, his most famous. Recorded in 1975, this piano solo album, which has sold more than 3.5 million copies, made the American pianist an international star. The delicacy of his touch, the sensitivity that comes through in his melodies and the melancholy trance he conveys are just a few of the inimitable hallmarks of the Keith Jarret style.
