By the Light of the Moon: An Eilistraee Song

TO THE PATREON: TO THE TWITTER: Today, the Bard College of Citrus dives back into the deitific driver’s seat and heads for the moon! Or rather, the goddess of moonlight, dancing, beauty, and freedom, Eilistraee! The daughter of Corellon Larethian and Lolth, she touches the world with an elegant grace and a deep power that is truly worth a song or two. Which is what one enterprising bard did, recounting the night where he got a once in a lifetime chance to join her in her dance... --LYRICS-- I saw your smile as it shone on the tranquil pond Before I ever saw your face You moved along with the clouds of the midnight gales In ephemeral grace I saw the tempered steel of the beautiful blade that you Held aside at your waist And you came to me And you came to me I saw the passion and love in your heavenly stare As you looked within me, where I wouldn’t dare And you said to me “Come and dance with me” You took my hand, I couldn’t stand The thought of me alone without you in this land I heard the bell, and I could tell I felt my heart was beating melodies of yours, I want to yell Your presence there, I fought for air You moved and pulled me closer, I could never dare Secrets were revealed, I felt my scars had healed I pray this night will never end, I never want to yield! I found my purpose by the light of the moon! Now when morning has come, it arrives too soon Since the song of my life was rewritten by chance As I fell for the steps of the Lady of Dance! Take me once again, Say the word to dance, and tell me when I’ll run And dance ‘til morning comes! I’m heaven-bound with you, I found The world around us took a breath without a sound Your power shone, I’m overthrown Your elven light, I can’t believe that for so long, it’s been unknown The Sundered World, the rumors swirled, That once you lived and danced among the sky impearled Finally I’m free, this twilit mystery Was solved when you approached and asked if you could dance with me! I found my purpose by the light of the moon! Now when morning has come, it arrives too soon Since the song of my life was rewritten by chance As I fell for the steps of the Lady of Dance! Take me once again, Say the word to dance, and tell me when I’ll run And dance ‘til morning comes! Your parents Corellon and Lolth, they’re locked in war and doomed to fight You try to bring your people from the darkness to the moonlit night Alone against the darkened gods, you staked your claim for what you love And by your sword and holy will, enduring like the stars above Although you strive to bring the world to peace, a fire roars inside, Your fury wild like a storm, a wrathful rising of the tide Oh, in your fight, you have my word, yes for harmony I’ll strive Within your arms, and in your dance, I feel alive! I found my purpose by the light of the moon! Now when morning has come, it arrives too soon Since the song of my life was rewritten by chance As I fell for the steps of the Lady of Dance! Take me once again, Say the word to dance, and tell me when I’ll run And dance ‘til morning comes! ----- ---Dungeons & Dragons is © Wizards of the Coast LLC.
