Swimming Bat

I was out working on my boat a few weeks back and saw what looked like a leaf, floating in the water. Then it moved. It took a moment to register that it was actually a bat, swimming in the water. It just did not register for a moment because the sight was so unusual. After a bit of thought I realized that It likely came from the boat house next door. Keeping in mind the notion that bats observed during daylight hours could be rabid, I decided to do what I could to save the creature. I ran up to the deck, grabbed a gaff and carefully fished it out of the water. The sun was still out and the dock warm, so I laid it there to warm up a bit while I fetched a box to put it in. After a while it recovered and flew off, landing in a nearby tree.
