Located in a residential neighbourhood in the outskirts of Amritsar, Perennial House is built in response to the client’s love for greenery, nature, and minimalism. The simplicity of the material palette makes the house timeless while specific and strategic design solutions make it suitable for all seasons. A full height exposed brick curved wall that scoops the front of the building is a highlight feature of this house. Not only does it act as a background to the deciduous tree planted in the front part of the plot, but also orchestrates the entry to the house, and creates a spatial difference between the kitchen-dining and the living room in an otherwise open plan. Its thick rat trap masonry wall blocks excess heat from the south. Each space is designed to open into a courtyard that adds a sensation of calmness to the spaces while controlling the microclimate.
