Engines For Our Planes (1942)

Titles read: “ENGINES FOR OUR PLANES“. Somewhere in Britain. Various shots of Spitfires, Hurricanes and Defiants (aircraft) in wartime action. We then see several shots of men and women working in factories that manufacture the Rolls Royce Merlin Ten engines for these aeroplanes. Production processes are seen and described in detail. An RAF officer chats to the workers in the factory. They talk of the good work that the factory workers and the RAF are doing. A male worker introduces the officer to a new female worker. The officer says “How do you do? I’m Norman“ and asks what she did before she started in the factory. She says she was a salt packer. He asks if she was putting the salt on Jerry’s tail (RAF man comes over as a bit of a dope, but perhaps he was just nervous) More shots of the RAF men as they see a finished aircraft engine being tested in a special room.
