’Boney was a Warrior’ - British Napoleonic War Song

’Boney was a Warrior’ is a British song recounting the campaign of Napoleon I across Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. One of Napoleon’s most famous military feats was the crossing of the Alps in 1800 before the Battle of Marengo. In 1806, Napoleon defeated Prussia at the Battle of Jena-Auerstedt, leading to the occupation of Berlin. In 1812 Napoleon invaded the Russian Empire, marching all the way to Moscow, the city was set ablaze by its residents. The burning of Moscow was a move to deny the French army necessary resources. After facing defeat, Napoleon abdicated in 1814 and was exiled to the island of Elba. He escaped and return to power during the Hundred Days in 1815. His forces were defeated by the coalition of European powers, leading to his second abdication and exile to the island of Saint Helena.
