Was Carl Jung an Antisemite?

One of the reasons for Carl Jung’s disregard in academic circles is the allegation that he was an antisemite. In this episode we explore the source and substance of these allegations. This is the second episode in the series “If you see the Buddha on the road kill him“. There’s a lot of hero worship and idolisation of Carl Jung out there of which I have in the past been plenty guilty of. This series is an attempt to return Jung to his human size in our psyches by looking at where he wasn’t perfect and may have gotten things wrong. In the previous episode we looked at Jung’s words on the existential philosophers. ____________________ 📚 Further Reading: - Cohen B (2012) Jung’s Answer to Jews. _Jung Journal_ 6(1): 56–71. - Goggin JE and Goggin EB (2001) _Death of a ‘Jewish Science’: Psychoanalysis in the Third Reich_.
