Join us on a breathtaking journey through the stunning landscapes of the Cordillera Huayhuash in the Andes mountains of Peru, a 12-day trek that’s nothing short of a bucket list adventure. Experience the awe-inspiring beauty of one of the world’s most captivating treks, where glaciered peaks over 6000m (20,000ft) high pierce the sky, and turquoise and azure lakes glisten like gems. But for us, this trek was more than just a scenic expedition. We faced and conquered adversity head-on. Amidst the staggering heights and serene lakes, we overcame severe illness that nearly ended the trek before it started. Worse yet, we faced unexpected racism on the trail. However, we did not let this stop us from having the adventure of a lifetime. Over the course of 12 days, we did a loop around this legendary mountain range, covering an incredible 125km (85 miles), ascending over 5500m (18,000ft) in elevation, including two passes of over 5000m (16,400ft). Each step brought a vista that was more beautiful than the previous.
