STORYLINE: Two Palestinian families in Gaza held a funeral on Friday and mourned relatives killed in overnight strikes in Deir al-Balah. A total of 22 people were killed and their bodies were taken to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital for their relatives to mourn them. Thousands of people from northern Gaza arrived in Deir al-Balah in the last days, after the Israeli army asked the residents of Gaza City to evacuate the region and move to the south of Gaza Strip. Israeli airstrikes pounded locations across Gaza on Thursday, including parts of the south that Israel had declared safe zones, heightening fears among more than 2 million Palestinians trapped in the territory that nowhere is safe. The Israeli military said it was targeting Hamas hideouts, infrastructure and command centers. The war began on Oct. 7 after Hamas militants stormed into Israel, and Israel vowed to destroy the militant group. The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said that 4,137 Palestinians have been killed and over 13,000 wounded.
