Elon Musk Confirms Test of Refueling Tech During Starship’s IFT-3! The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has indicated that SpaceX may provide NASA with an important demonstration on the third test flight of its massive Starship rocket. Could this be possible? Let’s check it out! Hello everyone! During the next test flight of Starship, SpaceX and NASA may take a tentative step toward orbital refueling. However, the United States Space Agency has stated that officials have not yet made a final decision regarding when they will begin demonstrating cryogenic propellant transfer capabilities, which are required in order to return astronauts to the Moon with the necessary capabilities. It is of great interest to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to demonstrate orbital refueling technology, which is a development that could result in the establishment of propellant depots in space to supply rockets that are destined. For the purpose of demonstrating capabilities in the field of refueling and propellant depots utilizing cryogenic propellants, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced in 2020 that it had entered into agreements with four companies: Lockheed Martin, United Launch Alliance, SpaceX, and Eta Space, a startup based in Florida. In order to prevent these cryogenic fluids, which include liquid hydrogen, liquid methane, and liquid oxygen, from transforming into a gas and escaping, it is necessary to maintain temperatures that are several hundred degrees below zero. The International Space Station is frequently refueled by Russian supply freighters with hydrazine and nitrogen tetroxide, which are room-temperature rocket propellants that can be stored for years in orbit. However, rockets that use super-cold propellants, which are more efficient, have typically been required to complete their missions within a few hours. NASA and industry engineers seek to prolong this lifetime to days, weeks, or months; however, in order to do so, new technologies are required to keep the propellants at cryogenic temperatures and, in certain instances, such as with Starship, to transfer the propellants from one vehicle to another. A number of corporations, including NASA, are providing funds for research in this field, which is known as cryogenic fluid management. According to the agreements reached by NASA in the year 2020, the government will provide more than $250 million in funding for cryogenic fluid management experiments in orbit. These financial agreements, which were announced in October 2020 and are referred to as “Tipping Point“ awards, require significant private funding from the businesses that are taking part in the demonstrations. It has been stated by John Dankanich, who is in charge of leading NASA’s attempts to create new capabilities for in-space transportation, that there are “major technical obstacles“ for cryogenic fluid management. _ Join this channel to get access to perks: #elonmusk #spacex #starship #starshipupdate #starshiplaunch #spacexlaunch _ Hope you guys enjoy this! 👉 If you enjoy this video, please like it and share it. 👉 Don’t forget to subscribe to this channel for more updates.
