The Execution Of The Guillotined Torturer Of Buchenwald

Buchenwald Concentration Camp was a horrific and brutal site of torture and execution during the Second World War, and over 50,000 prisoners never made it out of the camp alive. But one of the most horrific guards was an SS official named Wilhelm Schäfer. He was responsible for the execution squads and he also got involved in the torture of the camp administering hundreds of floggings. But Schäfer also was known for executing prisoners inside the Neck Shooting Facility. It was believed he had thousands of victims but at the end of the war, Schäfer cut out his SS blood tattoo and he burned his uniform and tried to evade capture. He was arrested over 15 years after the war had ended and was tried being condemned for his crimes. He was executed on the guillotine inside of Leipzig Prison.
