In Honor to Eivind Hovden | Restoration of an Old Hand Forged Knife from 1954

It was an absolute honor to restore this old hand forged masterpiece from 1954. Blacksmith Eivind Hovden with registered blacksmith stamp E.H. in Norway started forging knife blades from 1925. Welding high carbon steel between mild steel by hand in coal forge for this gentleman was an easy task. After 66 years the blade still looks amazing and hopefully after my restoration it will survive the next 66 years. Beside the knife restoration in this video, I also made a wooden handle (curly birch wood), miniature brass pommel for the knife tang and leather scabbard. Several things I did for the first time in this video and they are: - making a wet form leather scabbard; - using treadle powered lathe for metal and making small brass pommel; - cutting and shaping the antler for the handle.
