Individualism vs Collectivism: Why it Matters in the Classroom

Culturally Relevant Pedagogy rests on three propositions: academic achievement, cultural competence, and socio-political consciousness (Gloria Ladson Billings). This video is a continuation of my focus on cultural competence. Zaretta Hammond says many teachers are confused about culture and become overwhelmed when they try to learn aspects of “19 different cultures.“ Understanding the deepness and richness of many cultures is impossible. Instead, Hammond recommends learning about cultural archetypes--particularly individualism vs collectivism. This video is an attempt to better understand that archetype. 👉If you found this resource helpful, please support the channel by buying me a cup of coffee! 👉Blog and Website: 👉👉👉Support me by buying mugs, t-shirts, notebooks and more! 🔔 SUBSCRIBE for more for online teaching resources: 🎥 WANT TO CREATE VIDEOS LIKE THESE?
